The Nicest Diecast Car Hotwheels Have Made In a Long While

Diecast Cars in 1:64 Scale

...are hard to replicate and get the proportions just right. Admittedly Hotwheels are pretty good at this most of the time, occasionally of course they miss the mark - the original Nissan Z (350z) comes to mind, with that ridiculously square casting.

Recently however Hotwheels released a mainline that had the JDM fanbots drooling and had the aficionados like myself appreciating just how right Hotwheels had gotten this one.

Introducing my favourite JDM casting in a while, The...

Nissan 180sx Type X

It doesn't really need much to make it look good, hell it looks good straight out of the blister, but as a customiser one does not simply leave mainlines alone, and as such it was wheelswap time! :)

must customise every diecast car out there

Customising Time. Well Wheel Swap Anyway.

I chose a pair of watanabe style real riders from the Boulevard Triumph TR6 because it was the same colour as the Nissan 180sx - and I do love my colour coded shoes!

I also had some fun with a new phone app I purchased and have been creating some awesome effects - hope you enjoy.

Initial D Mitsubishi Evolution III by Jada

Jada Make Nice JDM Diecast Cars

The only problem with Jada is that when it comes to their idea of 1:64 scale, they don't seem to be on the same page as Hotwheels. Assuming Hotwheels diecast cars are infact 1/64 scale, then I would put the Jada version at around 1:58 - 1:60.
There is a noticable difference, put  it that way..

The Mitsubishi Evo 3 - a Timeless Classic

The evo 3 is a a gorgeous looking car which only seems to get better with age. Jada have done a great job of capturing some of these timeless lines in their 1:64 scale (aahhhBLLSHT) diecast version.

Looking for more JDM goodness and ralliart magic? Check out My Custom Hotwheels - the website dedicated to helping you learn how to customise Hotwheels and create awesome dioramas.

Check it out, and if you enjoy it and love your evos then be sure to share the post. :)

Beetles, Combis and Golfs. The Volkswagen Meet.

The People's Car

The Volkswagen or VW is a german made classic that has spawned a whole range of cars that each carry a wave of diehard aficionados all completely and utterly obsessed with the brand.

And fair enough too, I mean look at the beetle for instance. That thing looks good as a rat rod, a classic restore, slammed and dubbed hellayeah... you name it!

Anyway, I ramble...let's see some photos already!

Nissan Skyline GTR34 and a Gold Supra

The Black Nissan Skyline GTR34

This Hotwheels release Nissan Skyline was originally black with decals/tampos running up the side. I removed the tampos and then swapped the wheels for staggered ones to give it that mean drag look

The Gold Toyota Supra

The Gold Supra is one of my favourites and similarly to the Nissan Skyline, was originally Gold and had tampos/decals that I removed. In the case of the Supra I replaced the decals with my own and then did a wheel swap for colour coded real riders to complete the look.

So much JDM. So much WIN!
